William Still was one of the leading Underground Railroad operators in Philadelphia. In March of 1858, Douglass met with Still along with John Brown and others. Meetings like these were fundraising attempts for John Brown’s various plans. Still likely contributed some money to Brown using Douglass as an intermediary.
William Still died on July 14, 1902 at the age of 80. He was buried in Eden Cemetery in Collingdale, Pennsylvania.
